Forward Lines

Soft Lock

The Soft Lock application has been developed to provide a quick and easy way of locking a Cisco IP Phone device from being able to make and / or receive calls.

Users have typically used Extension Mobility to log on and off preventing calls from being made of received from a telephone. The issue with this approach is that it takes a number of key actions on the Cisco handsets and does not offer the flexibility, for instance, to still receive calls, but restrict any others than emergency services being reached.

The application is typical configured to allow a user to dial a very short code such as *81 which immedately hangs the phone up and soft locks it. To unlock the phone the user can dial *82 followed by their pin and again the phone is very quickly avaialble for use.

Taps Lite

The TAPS lite application has been created to provide a similar function to the Cisco TAPS product. Cisco TAPS configuration and deployment can provide a good service however the configuration of the solution may be complex in certain scenario's.

TAPS lite will change the phone identity on request to a pre-configured virtual device on request. The application is activited by dialing a telephone number, followed by the required extension and a security pin number for security.

Once authorised the solution will re-program the device with the new device information and perform a reset on it. Once complete the telephone will come up with its new identity. This solution is ideal for medium to large scales deployments.

Control Panel Suite

Cross Cluster Extension Mobility

Cisco Systems have a cross cluster extension mobility solution scheduled for release in CUCMv8. The expected architecture is that the solution will effectively just registered the phone back to the users home cluster.

In certain circumstances this will not give the desired result as the solution will not have real control over the IP traffic and its path, and may easily distribute the clusters ability to perform Call Admission Control.

By implementing a bespoke solution you are able to take full control of what happens where, with who and when.

CCM4 to CUCM5+ Pin Extraction Suite

As part of the process of upgrading Cisco CallManager 4.x to Cisco Unified CallManager 5.x/6.x/7.x/8.x then as part of the upgrade Cisco require that you reset every extension mobility user's password and pin back to a single default.

This can cause a great amount of pain during the upgrade as it causes a large security risk to the company and generates large amounts of support calls.

This application solves the majority of the problems in this area. The application acquires data from the legacy CCM4.x solution and then recovers the user's pin information. A new password is generated from this information thus providing security to ccmuser.

Once the application has acquired every users pin information it is sent into the new CUCM system, thus allowing users on day 1 after the upgrade to login to extension mobility with their original pin.

In the first 30,000 telephone upgrades it is estimated that this application has saved approximately 10 man days of work.

802.1x Telephone Configuration Engine

Cisco System provide 802.1x configuration on many of their IP Telephones. As part of the process you typically have to touch each telephone to enter the 802.1x authentication password which is very time consuming at deployment time and even harder when the IP telephones are already deployed.

DominoComms have an application that can really help here. The application automatically performs a number of actions that ensures that each IP telephone is configured with an individual 802.1x password ready for the network security to be switched on.

The application first gathers all of the IP Telephone Mac addresses, device pools and telephone types, then acquires the current IP address for each device and stores it ready for action. A new password is generated for each IP Telephone (length configurable).

You are then able to request, per subnet or all locations (0.0.0.0/0), that the IP telephone should be configured (this is typically performed out of hours to ensure the IP Telephone is available for configuration). The application then pushes the 802.1x configuration and passwords to the required IP Telephones.

The application can also captured final pictures showing the configuration was completed as requested. The application can provide an import file for Cisco ACS allowing all of the deivce names and passwords to be uploaded ready for the security switch on.

Cisco Handset Remote Control

The Cisco Handset Remote Control application allows the remote control of a Cisco Handset as if you were standing in front of it.

The application first gathers all of the IP Telephone Mac addresses and telephone types, then acquires the current IP address for each device and stores it ready for action.

Cisco IP Telephone Backdrop Bulk Updater

When deploying some of the higher end Cisco IP Telephones within your organisation it is sometimes desirable to update them to show a corporate picture or backdrop on the device. Cisco IP Telephone Phone Push Standard / Premium

This product provides the ability to push content to your Cisco IP Telephones. The solution provides both a manual and automatic push of content.

Cisco Multiple Directories

This product provides the ability for the directories button to return the results from many Cisco Unified CallManagers and multiple LDAP servers in a single search.

Many organisations today have many clusters across geograpahical areas and this single application can quickly search all services to return the numbers being searched for.

The solution supports combinations of many clusters and many LDAP servers, returning the information as it would have been provided by a default Cisco CallManager installation, including the ability to edit and dial once the number has been located.

The service can also be configured to restrict or offer multiple site locations results based on specific ldap queries. The configuratiom parameter can either be passed by a parameter in the phones services or offered by requesting phone IP Address.

Available in STANDARD, PRO and CORPORATE versions. Cisco ClusterHop

This product provides the ability for Cisco IP Telephony handsets to "hop" between 2 or more clusters by the user selecting the service directly on the hot desk telephone and avoiding software / firmware upgrades which would slow the "hopping" process (normally required where the Cisco Unified Communication Manager has different versions.

The application intelligently manipulates the configuration files acquired through a TFTP pull from each cluster and then replays the modified configuration through a dedicated TFTP server.

The solution typically provides a solution for regional hot desking areas where employees normally attached to a different cluster can "move" to their cluster, launch extension mobility and then make an receive calls.

Cisco Unified Communications Manager support 5.0 through to 8.6. Each ClusterHop license provides this service for 100 devices
